After the long Holiday Weekend, the construction and remodeling efforts have kicked back in. Actually, there were two workers here on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving...Jeanne and Missy (electrician's crew) put in a few hours in the cold lower level of the addition-soon to be our Health and Fitness Room et al.
Today, we had a half day with the D & B Heating and Cooling gang, finishing up their work on the upper level. They are due back in a few days to start on the lower level after some of the other mechanical work is completed down there. As usual, we have Mark Sr. and Mark Jr. here working on some framing and refiguring of the Family Room in the existing part of our home. They are also getting ready to put in the two large bay windows in our Living Room and Dining Room tomorrow AM. The electrician, John, and his crew are also here working hard to finish all of the wiring demands. I believe we must have a lot of wiring in this project, as he is dealing with Phone, Cable TV, and Internet as well as our electricity. The existing house was in sore need of some updating and of course the new addition was a huge project in and of itself.
Oliver and I did not make it to school today. Oliver was up at 4am and stayed awake until around 10am. He is trying to get over yet another sinus infection with an ear infection simultaneously, so he isn't sleeping all that great these days. I also was dealing with a migraine headache this am and was in no condition to be going anywhere either. So, Steve spent a half day at home caring for Oliver, letting me sleep off my headache, and drooling over all the construction efforts going on. Oh yah, and he had his personal and his work laptops open on the Dining Room table trying to get some work done while he was home too.
Ian, Evan, and Ilse were dragging themselves out the door to school this morning. No one wanted to go back after the long weekend. They visit with their father today after school, so they aren't due home until around 8pm. They are always eager to check out any and all changes to the house during their short absences from home.
We have been doing quite a bit of our Christmas shopping via the internet these last 3 years because it is a huge time saver. It is also so popular to do now, that there are all these money saving deals and very often free shipping. So, the boxes are starting to arrive at the door and we are opening and verifying contents and promptly hiding them from the older children. They may be 10, 12, and 14 years old, but they are still giddy with anticipation about Christmas.
Ohhhh, last thing. I took Ilse to The Great Indoors yesterday and solved all the issues with getting our Master Bath vanity and mirrors selected and ordered. HUGE RELIEF! Thanks so much to Mark Sr. for suggesting The Great Indoors once we realized we couldn't use Menards to order what we wanted....and a BIG THANK YOU to Mary McGowan, Project and Design Sales and Julia Hurrell, Kitchen and Bath Designer through Sears Holdings at The Great Indoors store in town. We are excited to see our finished Master Bath with all the fun things we've chosen. Steve isn't very into choosing this kind of thing, he seems to be letting me do a lot of the choosing. I run everything by him anyway to make sure he doesn't dislike what I've decided on and to make sure the dollar figures are kosher. The vanity is a 72 inch, Cherry wood with Truffle stain, with front legs exposed, no toe kick, and full overlay Monterey style doors from the Dynasty line from Omega Cabinetry. I believe they are actually a kitchen cabinet since the Prairie Line for bathrooms by Omega Bath doesn't come in 72in length. But, the two matching mirrors are 25.5in wide by 31.75in tall and are from Omega Bath in the same wood and same stain of course.
