Well, today's temperatures prove it really is Summertime after all. We have hit the 90's after weeks and weeks of nowhere near that warmth! Personally, I could have gone ALL SUMMER without hitting 90 degrees. It is just no good for our family full of asthmatics, allergy sufferers, and definitely detrimental to our littlest man of the house.
As you can may know, Ollie is hanging out at home most days now. We venture out with him for the necessary appointments and the occasional "fun" trip, ie the store, etc. HOWEVER...this past month, for Darling Husband's & my 6th Anniversary...Oliver, DH, myself and Oliver's nurse, Aimee traveled to Bloomington, Indiana to....

WOW! What a beautiful place~! We enjoyed a short tour, visited the Wine Shop for some of our (my) favorite Oliver Soft Red wine (cheese, bread, etc) to be brought back to our hotel for a late snack, and toured the lovely grounds before heading to our hotel and dinner. It was really nice to get away- our first trip ANYWHERE in over 5 years since Oliver has joined our family. Oliver's health conditions, feeding & medication schedule, and oxygen dependancy prohibit travel for the most part. Not to mention that the little guy usually requires such intense care, that it is overwhelmingly exhausting and unrealistic to even attempt to pack him up to go anywhere nearby. (heck, trips to the store with him take serious planning ahead of time!)
Once we returned home, we settled in to trying to find a new nurse to fill Oliver's needs and begin the process known as "Back to School" for Ian, Evan, and Ilse. Yes, it is that time already. Summer break has just flown by this year. We have enjoyed having many of the kids friends over and our little jaunts around town together, know affectionately as "FUN NIGHT"! DH and I have been shopping a lot of garage sales this summer...Fridays, Saturdays, and sometimes the occasional Sunday. We have scored several unique finds, many many DEALS, and enjoyed every minute of it, together!
Now, we have backpacks packed, binders filled, zipper pouches secured, folders & dividers labeled, and all the medications and forms for the school and the school health office DONE! WOO HOO!
As for the hunt for an acceptable new nurse for the little guy...we are working on that. Our newest possibility has spent 6 days with us so far. At first, she seemed super promising....now we have our reservations. *sighs* Why this process has to be so unbelievably draining is beyond me!
We were hoping to keep everyone healthy, Oliver especially, since our latest health dramas from this past Spring....however... Oliver may very well be getting "sick" again! Did I just say the "S" word? Yes, yes I did and we believe it is likely the same nasty bacteria creeping back into Oliver's ears, sinus', and temporal bones (lower back of skull) as he was plagued by up until this May. *Holds Breath*
If this is the case, life is about to get REALLY CRAZY all over again!
I can almost feel my MommaBear Claws coming out, just thinking about this possible scenario. Trust me, NOT a good situation!
Ok, so hopefully the rest of August just brings Book Buys, Freshman Orientation, Freshman BBQ, School Portraits and only one IEP Meeting (not more than one...one CALM IEP Mtg, please!)
Oh, and a few more trips to the local pool, Dairy Queen, and a couple more "Fun Nights" with friends!
~Take Care! Here's hoping August goes as planned!
